The United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York's mission is to investigate, prosecute and deter violations of federal statutes, enforce and represent the interests of the United States in civil litigation, uphold civil, constitutional and victims' rights, and foster partnerships with other federal, state and local government agencies and community groups.

Duties

This Office Manager serves as a principal assistant to the Administrative Officer and Division Chiefs on administrative and legal support matters and issues involving administrative services in-the division. If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing Office Manager support in the U.S. Attorney's Office, Eastern District of New York, located in Central Islip, New York, focusing in the areas of supervising and/or providing direction to subordinate office staff, coordinates administrative reports, and plans office management functions. Typical work assignments will include: Supervises and oversees the work of administrative and legal support personnel. Provides management advice in employee relations areas (i.e. awards, performance management, and/or benefits). Establishes systems and/or processes to track the progress of cases. Projects and/or analyzes space needs based on proposed initiatives, staff changes, and/or technology improvements. Advises on policy development in procurement and logistical management.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience for the respective grade level in which you are applying: To qualify at the GS-13 level, you must possess: Specialized Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service performing (obtained in either the public or private sectors) (3) of the (4) duties listed below: Directing office activities of administrative support staff; Resolving problems by analyzing facts, drawing conclusions, and/or devising solutions; Applying statistical and/or analytical methods to allocate resources (i.e. financial requirements, manpower utilization, space requirements, and/or other support needs); Implementing administrative support programs (i.e. personnel management, procurement, physical security, space management, property, and/or records management). TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. You must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. No award SF-50 will be accepted; recommended SF-50s include promotions and step increases (within grade increases).
