You will be a hands-on technologist responsible for leading a Computing Platforms Division that builds and maintains cloud and on-premise computing platforms, identifies and executes on artificial intelligence strategies, and manages cross-functional teams to deliver innovative information technology solutions. You will regularly develop and communicate strategies to senior management and directly supervise a team of professionals to execute on these plans.
Duties
As the Associate Director for OIT Computing Platform Division, you will:
Make recommendations on cloud and artificial intelligence strategies, new platforms, and new capabilities, including the development and execution of project plans.
Supervise a staff of information technology specialists in the development and maintenance of an enterprise-wide platforms, including appropriate technical architecture.
Assign staff to projects and provide oversight in the development and execution of project plans.
Select and administer appropriate analysis and monitoring tools for use in managing both on-premise and cloud platforms.
Manage contracts and vendors for support of our platform and cloud capabilities.
Provide written analysis and oral presentations, along with recommendations, on potential capability enhancements and new technologies to senior management.
Oversee the maintenance and accuracy of the platform and server inventory database for control and adherence to the policy of standardized configurations.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- One year supervisory or managerial probationary period, unless previously served.
- Suitability for Federal employment, as determined by a background investigation.
- Submission of a financial disclosure report may be required.
- You must be a current FCA career or career conditional competitive service employee.
Qualifications
You may qualify at the VH-41 (GS-15) band level if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the VH-40 (GS-14) band level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Such experience may include:
Skill working with technology platforms;
Experience developing and executing strategies for new computing platforms, including cloud-based capabilities;
Experience with on-premise and cloud platforms, including artificial intelligence;
Experience supervising a team of Information Technology specialists; or
Experience developing and executing strategies for deploying cloud-based solutions.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Time-In-Grade Requirements: Current and former Federal employees (including VEOA eligibles) must have served one-year (52 weeks) at the next lower grade in the Federal service to meet time-in-grade restrictions per 5 CFR 300, Subpart F, by the closing date of the announcement.
