As a Deputy Program Manager at the GS-0340-14, you will be part of Retirement Services, Office of Personnel Management. If selected, you will be responsible for serving as a principal manager and technical advisor on all Federal Employee Retirement Systems (FERS), Civil Services Retirement Systems (CSRS), and Court Ordered benefits matters for the Retirement Services Program.
Duties
Oversees the implementation and application of operating policies, interim systems methods, procedures, and forms, to ensure uniform performance by staff.
Identifies operational and systemic deficiencies and develops and recommends specific actions to resolve problem areas.
Provides feedback to subordinate branch chief employees on a regular basis on the employee's performance and what can be done to improve in their positions.
Oversees the adjudication and review of initial claims for retirement and death benefits, deciding questions of eligibility, and determines amounts and kinds of benefits to which applicants are entitled.
Assists Program Support Groups in planning, developing, installing, and evaluating the Groups' policies and operating systems.
Serves as an alternate point of contact and leadership authority for assigned group in regard to the program supporting the group chief.
Qualifications
For the GS 14: You must have at least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-13 grade level or payband in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) including all of the following:
1) Executing programs in accordance to plans; AND
2) Developing solutions to programmatic issues; AND
2) Developing goals and objectives to accomplish required mission of a program; AND
4) Overseeing the management of staff in a supervisory or managerial capacity
Merit promotion applicants must meet the time-in-grade requirement as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F. One year at the GS-13 grade level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS14 level.
