About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain halfway between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL just off Interstate 20. The Depot is the largest employer in Calhoun County with approximately 4000 employees.
Duties
Repair, rebuild, overhaul, adjust and modify the M1 family of assault vehicles and its electronic subassemblies.
Test navigation system on Artillery pieces using the Advance Field Artillery Tactical Data System (AFATDS).
Interpret and apply blueprints, specifications, and drawings as required in the repair of electronic integrated systems.
Utilize hand and power tools to remove, disassemble, repair, replace, and adjust defective parts and components of the electronic integrated system.
Reassemble electronic equipment and subassemblies using repaired electronic components.
Recommend new methods of repair for malfunctioning electronic parts and components.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter
- This position is covered by the civilian drug abuse testing program governed by Army Regulation (AR) 600-85, and incumbent will be required to sign a Department of the Army (DA) Form 5019.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a restricted area clearance and badge for access to firing range.
- This position requires incumbent to travel up to 25% to meet mission requirements.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Electronics Mechanic without more than normal supervision. - I have the ability to perform common duties which include common repair, overhaul, modification, and troubleshooting of electronic equipment in combat and tactical vehicles. I can analyze the schematic layout and make preliminary visual inspections and operational tests to determine components causing malfunctions or invalid readings. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort: Work requires standing stooping, bending and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. There is frequent moving and lifting of parts and materials up to 15-20 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds.
Working Conditions: Work for the most part is performed in shop building and occasionally performs work in open area. Work is performed on concrete floors or in combat vehicle. Incumbent is subject to minor cuts and bruises on the hands from working in close places.
