Salary: $29 - 34 per hour

About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain halfway between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL just off Interstate 20. The Depot is the largest employer in Calhoun County with approximately 4000 employees.

Duties

Ensure workers follow work sequence and procedures to meet deadlines. Apply electronic principle and the application to repair equipment and components. Maintain and repair test equipment being used in the repair of electrical components. Provide on-the-job training and instructions to workers. Interpret a variety of technical manuals to repair mechanical and electronic equipment. Repairs, reassembles, adjusts, modifies, aligns and tests electronic equipment.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires a physical upon entering the position and annually.

Ability To Lead or SuperviseAbility To Use Hand and Power Tools - ElectronicsIngenuity (Ability To Suggest and Apply New Methods)Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.Theory of ElectronicsTrouble shooting (Electronic Equipment)Use of Test Equipment: Electronics Physical Effort: Work assignments require light to moderate physical effort. Frequently handles items weighing from 10 to 40 pounds and occasionally is required to lift items in excess of 45 pounds. Works in a sitting position for extended periods of time, and frequent standing, walking, reaching and stooping are required. Working Conditions: Work is performed inside of shops that are adequately heated, lighted, and ventilated or at site where the weather elements are a factor. Is subject to injuries such as cuts, bruises and burns caused by electrical shock, RF energy and soldering irons. Ensures that hazardous materials/waste within work area are handled/processed within operating guidelines. Guidance for the proper handling of hazardous materials/waste is obtained through formal training efforts and specific guidance Issued by the supervisor.Ensures that storage drums, and other containers housing hazardous materials/waste are properly labeled and secured at all times. Reports any deficiencies to the supervisor. Properly disposes of hazardous materials/waste used/generated at work site. Immediately notifies supervisor of any accident or spill and initiates response actions as directed by supervisor. Since exposure tohazardous materials/waste is possible, wears protective clothing and equipment (e.g., rubber boots, coveralls, goggles, aprons, gloves, respirator, etc.) as situations warrant.
