About the Position: This position is with the United States Army Reserve Command, Army Reserve G-1, Adjutant Generals Division, Record Management and Publishing Branch with Duty located at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
Duties
Review incoming and outgoing mail for proper postage and classification.
Allocate tracking information for outgoing mail in accordance with local and Department of the Army regulations.
Participate in mail investigations to ensure compliance with standards.
Search for evidence of drugs, explosives or bio-chemical agents prior to routing mail internally.
Operate a motor vehicle safely on public and installation roads to obtain incoming and outgoing mail by obeying speed limits, traffic laws and regulations.
Utilize a variety of automated office equipment to perform administrative duties.
Record mail movement and funds for United States Army Reserve Command and Office of the Chief, Army Reserve.
Load and or unload packages from a mail vehicle.
Schedule messenger deliveries for supported activities.
Adhere to records management guidelines provided by local and federal entities.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires a medical examination prior to employment.
- This position requires you to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
- This position requires you to maintain valid State Driver's License.
- This position requires the incumbent to lift 70 pounds with assistance.

Specialized Experience Statement: One year of specialized experience which includes:
Ensuring organization of official mail and items for distribution;
Conducting internal training on mail procedures;
Assisting in the development of mail program policies and procedures; and
Creating reports for a mail facility.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
