Duties

You will provide technical oversight and direction to the installation of highly specialized test articles on the facility’s flight motion simulator and their electrical integration with the Central Target Simulator (CTS) test facility. You will organize and maintain the unique electrical and mechanical interface hardware used with the test articles. You will develop and implement standard operating procedures that provide for the efficient, repeatable and safe installation and removal of test articles from the flight motion simulator. You will provide training to personnel tasked to help with the installation and removal tasks. You will provide fabrication, packaging/assembly, wiring and integration expertise in order to support the enhancement of the simulation capabilities provided. You will prepare complete documentation on all packaging and integration efforts.

Qualifications

You will serve as an Electronics Technician in the Tactical Electronic Warfare Division, Code 576200, of NAVAL RESEARCH LABORATORY This position has a Selective Placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The Selective Placement factor is: This position requires demonstrated experience in operation, repair, installation and inspection of military electronics and radar systems. The position also requires significant experience in organizing and leading a technical aspect of military radar or electronic warfare testing. In addition to the Selective Placement Factor your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-9/10) or pay band (NR-03) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Fabricating, packaging/assembling, wiring, integrating, troubleshooting, and repairing electronics, electronic systems, and military radar systems in support of simulation capabilities; 2) Skill at working as part of a technical team; 3) Ability to use general-purpose laboratory instrumentation and test equipment (direct current power supplies, volt-ohm meters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, RF power meters and spectrum analyzers, etc.); 4) Skill in using personal computers for technical applications and general office work (word processing, e-mail, spreadsheets, presentations, etc.); and 5) Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
