This position is located at Desert Visions Youth Wellness Center and serves as an Information Technology Specialist, technical expert responsible for supporting supporting end-users in determining their computer system needs including installation, operation, implementation, training, and maintaining the computer systems on the local area network at the Phoenix and Tucson Area Youth Regional Treatment Centers (YRTC's). This position reports to the Medical Director.
Duties
Independently determines information system requirements including local and remote data storage; back-up; shadow server set-up; network requirements; wireless system security; tele-video systems; and contingency plans for the YRTC programs.
Serves as an expert in installing, implementing, troubleshooting arrays of Microsoft Windows platforms within the YRTC's These multi-service servers support clinical (Ex: Electronic Health Record, Patient Care Component) and administrate systems (Ex: file/print servers, antivirus, and back-up systems) that require 24/7 availability.
Prepares contract specifications for computer hardware/software purchases and service agreements. Consults and monitors technical progress of contractors. Plans and conducts conferences to assure understanding of contractual requirements.
Conducts training for facility end users including training on the implementation, operation, maintenance and support of computer systems, new technology, software, hardware, local and wide area networks and local area network computers and programs.
Serves as the service unit specialist and consultant on Windows Servers, Storage Area Network (SAN), personal computer hardware and software, local and wide area networks.
Qualifications

GS-5 through GS-15 (or equivalent): For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-11Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples include: Knowledge of computer systems hardware, Storage Area Network (SAN), software and firmware. Knowledge in installing, implementing and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows platforms.
OR
Completed three (3) years of graduate education leading to a Ph. D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks. (Must submit copy of transcripts).
OR
Completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or LL.M from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management. (Must submit copy of transcripts).
OR
Possess a combination of education and experience as described above that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The total percentage equals at least 100 percent to qualify for this GS-11 grade level (Must submit copy of transcripts and resume with applicable experience).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, GS-12:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples include: Managing project planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating operating systems and applications software. Managing system resources related to web-based network and installing new or modified operating systems, application software and adhering to configuration standards and IT security protocols. Ensuring installation of software applications, meets functionality, integrity, optimizing system performance and administering diagnostic performance mechanisms. Implementing recovery procedures, performing data backup routines, and ensuring information security and information assurance standards and objectives.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
