Duties
You will draft/develop and implement local/internal procedures for determining and processing requests for Personnel Security Investigations and security clearances and/or suitability for personnel.
You will establish priority processing of initiating requests for Personnel Security Investigations, and analyzes each request to determine the validity of the requested investigation and access level requirement.
You will review and monitor the command’s Periodic Reinvestigation (PR) program to ensure granted security clearances are part of a continuing evaluation process.
You will serve as representative to the Special Security Officer (SSO) in coordinating command SCI clearances.
You will implement DOD/DON policies and directives for the construction, protection and operation of all classified information equipment/circuit facilities.
You will establish and implement controls and procedures for special areas, such as restricted areas, controlled areas, SIPRNET Secure Rooms and/or SCIF’s.

- This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States which could include remote or isolated sites. You may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- If eligible for permanent change of station, the appointee will be required to sign a transportation agreement to establish a government time in service requirement of 12 months.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- You will be required to obtain a Defense Security Service Security Fundamentals Professional Certification within 2 years.
- This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
Qualifications
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Developing comprehensive security plans and strategies for the internal and external integration of day-to-day, as well as long-range projects, actions, and activities for the agency; protecting information, personnel, property, facilities, operations, or material from unauthorized disclosure, misuse, theft, assault, vandalism, espionage, sabotage, or loss, to include, Industrial Security (contracts and access), Anti-Terrorism Force Protection, and other similarly related functions.
