The full performance, Intermediate Care Technician (ICT) generalist is assigned to the Occupational Health Clinic. This position serves as an advance technician for the Occupational Health Section, Primary Care Service. They perform ongoing patient care and administrative duties in an outpatient clinical setting within the Occupational Health Clinic. ICTs may perform tasks after proper education, training and competency, demonstrating knowledge, skills and abilities.

Duties

Major Duties: Performs observation-based screening and collection of patient information in collaboration with licensed personnel. Assists licensed personnel with the delivery of care to patients with complex and specialized care needs. This may involve obtaining patient health history, chief complaints, medication history, and identification of health-related conditions that may impact the patient's health status. Completes approved templates and tools such as normal result notes. Assists in behavioral/psychiatric situations in an outpatient setting. Assists licensed staff with preparing patients for medical evaluation, setting up equipment, passing instruments and providing treatment during in person or virtual visits. Operates specialized medical equipment to obtain diagnostic and therapeutic outcomes. Possesses the knowledge to recognize life threatening situations and act to correct these emergent situations according to established national or local protocols. Performs Vital Signs and Point of Care Testing. Medication administration will comply with national and local directives and policies. Conducts or assists with the training of personnel in if appropriately trained, certified and/or qualified, for example: facility formal preceptors and Telehealth Presenter (TCT). Serves as member of hospital-wide committees, for example: flu committee. Assists with or perform other related approved technical health care procedures under the direction and supervision of the licensed personnel, for example: vision acuity screening. Performs wound care, for example: bandaging, application of dressings. Reviews and coordinates patient scheduling, equipment maintenance, and maintains specific level of medical and administrative supplies with the Occupational Health Clinic. Work Schedule: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday (no nights, weekends, Holidays) Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 12/16/2024. Individual Occupational Requirement: Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the federal service in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Medical Review Officer (MRO) Assistant duties; occupational health services; clinical tasks; emergency care; patient screening; performs observation-based screening and collection of patient information, assists in behavioral and psychiatric situations, and operates specialized medical equipment. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have One full year of graduate education meets the requirements for GS-7 only in those instances where it is directly related to the work of the position. (Transcripts Required) NOTE: One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Medical Review Officer Assistant Duties. At least 3 years of experience in MRO-A duties and/or completion of MRO Team Member Training and Certification are highly desired. Experience in the military as a Hospital Corpsman, Combat Medic, Medical Technician is desired. Examples of military occupational specialties desired, include but are not limited to: 4NOX-Basic Medical Technician, 4NOIC - independent Duty Medical Technician, X4NO - Aeromedical Evacuation Technician, 1T2X1 - Pararescueman, 68W - Combat Medic Specialist, 18D - Army Special Forces (Medic), 68WW1 - Specials Operations Flight Medic, HM0000 - Basic Hospital Corpsman, HM8404 - Field Medical Service Technician, HM 8425 - Surface Force Independent Duty Corpsman, HM8402Submarine Force Independent Duty Corpsman, HM8401 - Search and Rescue Medical Technician, HM8403 - Fleet Marine Force Reconnaissance Independent Duty Corpsman, HM8406 - Aerospace Medical Technician, and HS-Basic Health Services Technician. At least 1 year experience working in an Occupational Health Clinic (preferred) or other outpatient clinic setting Experience, training, and/or certification in medical documentation assistance (e.g., scribing) Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Some work may require movement between offices, hospitals, warehouses, and similar areas for meetings and to conduct work. Work may also require walking/standing, in conjunctions with travel to and attendance at meetings and/or conferences away from the work site. Incumbent may carry and lift light items weighing less than 15 pounds. The work required does not inherently include any physical requirements essential for successful job performance that could not otherwise be performed with accommodation or workplace adjustment. A pre-placement physical examination is not required.
