The Special Assistant to the Campaign Director is a member of the Development Office & reports to the Director of Development/Campaign Director. The primary focus of this position is supporting the campaign planning & donor-engagement activities of the Director & the Librarian of Congress, serving as the hub of the Development team to coordinate campaign logistics for both internal & external clients, including, senior Library executives, donors, prospective donors & the general public.

Duties

Coordinates and manages forward campaign planning of the Director’s calendar ensuring strategic prioritization of meetings and engagements.  Drafts correspondence, notes-to-the-file, and coordinates/contributes to other routine documentation required by the Director.  Facilitates implementation of the requests, directives and commitments of the Director in coordination with relevant Library staff.  Maintains regular contact with special assistants and administrative officers to keep the Director apprised of key developments within the Library.  Performs writing and editing with little to no editing from the Director of Development.  Works on a wide range of highly confidential documents related to fundraising and development for the Director of Development.  Works collaboratively with the Director of Development and others on any and all office initiatives.

Qualifications

Ability to support campaign fundraising. Knowledge of fundraising and campaign activities. Ability to plan and execute multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to exercise judgment and discretion.  Ability to communicate effectively in writing. Ability to serve as a liaison and build and maintain professional relationships. Ability to communicate effectively other than in writing.
