This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration, Public Museum Engagement and Legislative Archives office. The incumbent serves as a Public Affairs Specialist and is responsible for researching, creating, writing, and disseminating sensitive, critical or complex information for external publics on a wide variety of subjects in support of NARA's mission - its programs, objectives and functions.
Duties
As a Public Affairs Specialist, you will:
Plan, develop, and communicate the organization's programs, policies, and activities
on national, regional and local levels.
Assist in the development and transmittal of informational materials to a widespread
audience
Use best-practice graphic and visual communication techniques and principles to
advise on the design of usable and visually appealing web and social media content
that are in conformance with the overall design of NARA branding and in accordance
with established accessibility guidelines.
Provide creative and innovative ideas to assist in the establishment of the
organization's brand, and to provide a positive outreach to market the special initiatives
within the organization.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
For the GS-12: You must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-11 grade level in the federal service or equivalent private sector, that is directly related to the position as listed above and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:
Providing design support for social media and/or website design projects of an organization. AND
Assist in developing news releases and outreach materials to share to external audiences on national, regional, or local levels. AND
Responding to internal and external inquiries for individuals or segments of the public directly and indirectly affected by an organization's programs that contribute to the overall understanding of the organization, thereby furthering community awareness and support for the missions of the agency.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-12, you must have been at the GS-11level for 52 weeks.
