You will serve as an Environmental Management and Planning Director in the Environmental Division of NAVAL SCHOOL CEC OFFICERS.

Duties

You will assist in writing DON policy and implementing guidance to implement and improve the Navy's environmental planning processes. You will coordinate the integration of training into the Navy's Environmental Readiness Programs. You will act as the Course Director and perform curriculum management duties for assigned advanced environmental planning and management training courses and content. You will identify Navy environmental training needs, analysis of the best training vehicle to cost-effectively meet the training requirements, and make recommendations regarding unmet Navy needs. You will evaluate the technical content and instructional design of curricula to ensure it is accurate, current, and effective. You will facilitate adult-learning that focuses on complex problem-solving and application of a systems approach to enable students to evaluate risks and apply judgment to successfully resolve environmental shore base management issues.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying environmental laws, regulations, and policies including: National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), environmental compliance programs related to facility projects and sustainment, and environmental impacts analysis and mitigation methods; 2) Applying advanced engineering and scientific concepts, principles, and technologies utilized in a professional science that relates to environmental sustainability, environmental impacts analysis, and shore environmental compliance for facility projects and sustainment to support operational readiness; 3) Utilizing funding sources, especially environmental funds, to justify needs for a customer and receive funds on a reimbursable basis from activities and agencies; 4) Planning and scheduling work to meet deadlines and elicit cooperation from other professionals at various levels; and 5) Managing contracts and authorized budgets to effectively execute approved schedule and work plans. GS-0401:
Basic Requirements -

  1. Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

    OR

  2. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in 1 above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

GS-1301:
Basic Requirements -
  1. Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.

    or

  2. Combination of education and experience: Education equivalent to one of the majors shown in 1 above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
