The Accessibility Coordinator will serve Chamizal National Memorial (CHAM), Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument (GICL) and White Sands National Park (WHSA). The position will be hosted by and duty stationed in El Paso, Texas, at Chamizal National Memorial.
This is a term position (more than 1 year) with an initial appointment expecting to last at least 13 months but may be extended up to a total of four years. Term positions do not convey permanent status in the Federal service.
Duties
This position will perform duties such as:
Establish Accessibility program to cover all areas of accessibility for visitors, employees, volunteers, housing, and reasonable accommodation as appropriate and required by law
Research policy and technical aspects of accessibility for the purpose of informing decision making, project development and planning
Develops relationships and with internal and external communities identified by each park
Reviews programs, services, and facilities at the parks to identify deficiencies in accessibility and develop solutions
In collaboration with park teams, uses results of reviews and assessments to set priorities, determine resource requirements, and define short or long-term goals and strategies to achieve desired outcomes.

Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience.
To qualify for this position at the GS-11 grade level, you must possess one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience is experience that equips the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the duties of this position. This experience includes activities such as: Use legal and industry recognized accessibility standards to create standard policies and practices for implementation; Work with a variety of stakeholders to create accessibility solutions; Review current programs to find accessibility issues and develop action plans for correction and improvements. You must include hours per week worked.

EDUCATION: I have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in a related field. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. NOTE: You must include Transcripts.

I have some specialized experience as described in A but less than one year, and I have more than two years but less than three years of graduate education as described in B. I have computed the percentage of these requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100%. (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond two years by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.) You must include transcripts.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an
accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.
If you are using
education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
