You will serve as a UTILITY SYSTEMS REPAIRER-OPERATOR LEADER in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT, PRODUCTION DIVISION of NAVFAC NORTHWEST.
Duties
You will check work to ensure supervisor's instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods and deadlines are met.
You will answer worker's question on policies, procedures, written instructions and other directives.
You will ensure needed plans, blueprints, materials and tools are available.
You will set the pace for other workers and demonstrate proper work methods.
You will be responsible for getting work started by assigning tasks.
You will provide on-the-job training to lower level workers/trainees.
You will install, modify, test, repair, troubleshoot, and maintain high pressure boilers, pumps, motors, diesel generators, valves and piping associated with mechanical utility systems.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- May be required to carry a portable radio or pager and maintain contact with supervisor or customer service center at all times.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

1) Operating, maintaining and repairing, at the Journeyman level, large high pressure, high temperature, dual fuel fired steam electric generating plants and auxiliary equipment including compressed air, emergency diesel generators, potable and waste water plants, and electric distribution systems/equipment; and 2) Adhering to required safety and housekeeping standards, applying established safety rules and regulations to minimize minor violations and to avoid major violations due to employee error or negligence.
