Duties
This position is located in the Office of Strategy, Programs, and Engagement (SP&E) of the National Endowment for the Arts. The Indemnity Director is responsible for organizing, directing, and implementing the Arts and Artifacts Indemnity Program (Indemnity Program, or the Program). The Director reports to the SP&E Senior Officer for Artistic Disciplines and supervises the Assistant Indemnity Administrator. In this position, you will:
This position is located in the Office of Strategy, Programs, and Engagement (SP&E) of the National Endowment for the Arts. The Indemnity Director is responsible for organizing, directing, and implementing the Arts and Artifacts Indemnity Program (Indemnity Program, or the Program). The Director reports to the SP&E Senior Officer for Artistic Disciplines and supervises the Assistant Indemnity Administrator. In this position, you will:
-Serve as the agency's recognized expert and authority, internally and externally, on Indemnity.
-Directs and implements operations of the Program, including reviewing and analyzing indemnity applications and amendments, chairing panel and Council meetings, and taking initiative to bring about the applicant's conformance with the priorities of the panel, the Council, and the enabling legislation and federal regulations.
-Monitor all Indemnity certificates for current and pending exhibitions to keep outstanding commitments within the total authorized ceiling and distributes the data prior to each Panel and Council meeting.
-Monitor claims for loss or damage to indemnified objects, including determining the nature and cause of the loss, the appraised value of objects after loss, and any evidence of litigation to determine blame or negligence.
Qualifications
In order to qualify for this position you must meet the following requirement:
Specialized Experience:
GS-14: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience at the GS-13 grade level performing the following duties:
1) Serving as an expert in indemnity principles and practices; and
2) Organizing, directing, and implementing museum risk management and protection policies for international and/or domestic exhibitions.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Current or Former Political Appointees: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
