You will serve as a Materials Handler in the Supply Management Department of NAVSUP FLT LOGISTICS CNTR JACKSONVILLE.

Duties

You will receive, verify, unload, inspect, and process incoming general and specialized shipments, which may include hazardous material or classified material. You will consolidate and arrange items in accordance with the warehouse plans and lead/Supervisor instruction keeping aisles and other traffic areas clear of obstructions. You will load and unload various types of vehicles using a wide range of material handling equipment (MHE). You will examine items received, note overages, shortages, or any damages in shipping and prepare detailed reports. You will provide shipment status and delivery information to customers.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license and/or government vehicle operator permit.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a Forklift Operator License (FLO).
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

I have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex tasks including utilizing knowledge of warehouse procedures and material handling techniques to perform a wide variety and range of warehouse functions; receiving, verifying, unloading, inspecting, and processing incoming general and specialized shipments from a variety of sources; storing, stacking, palletizing, and/or rotating items considering their use, size, shape, quantity, and special handling requirements; operating automated equipment such as optical readers, scanners, personal computers, fax machines, electronic scales, etc; reading and interpreting supply documents and procedures in order to process material movement, storage, and retrieval requirements; ensuring forms and inventory documents are correct; and operating a wide variety of material handling equipment (MHE), such as forklifts, pallet jacks, side loaders, and trucks. I am considered an expert and work with a high degree of independence. B. I have the ability to perform the full range of tasks including performing a wide variety and range of warehouse functions; receiving, verifying, unloading, inspecting, and processing incoming general and specialized shipments from a variety of sources; storing, stacking, palletizing, and/or rotating items considering their use, size, shape, quantity, and special handling requirements; operating automated equipment such as optical readers, scanners, personal computers, fax machines, electronic scales, etc; reading and interpreting supply documents and procedures in order to process material movement, storage, and retrieval requirements; and operating a wide variety of material handling equipment (MHE). I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection. C. I have the ability to perform common tasks including receiving, verifying, unloading, inspecting, and processing incoming general and specialized shipments; storing, stacking, palletizing, and/or rotating items; operating automated equipment such as optical readers, scanners, personal computers, fax machines, electronic scales, etc; reading and interpreting supply documents and procedures in order to process material movement, storage, and retrieval requirements; and operating material handling equipment (MHE). I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
