You will serve as a Prescription Eyeglass Making Worker Supervisor in the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, Navmedreadlogcmd Det Nora York of Direct Operations/Productions of NAVOPHTHALSUPPTRACT VA.
Duties
You will plan the use of workers, equipment, facilities, materials, and tools on a day-to-day, week-to-week, or month-to-month basis.
You will establish deadlines, priorities, and work sequences, and be able to plan work assignments based upon the policies and methods set by higher level supervisors.
You will inspect completed work for quality and must report possible or actual work delays to their supervisors.
You will maintain work reports and records, monitor leave and attendance, and plan and establish overall leave schedule.
You will have a broad knowledge of optical laboratory and production workflow procedures.
You will have knowledge of current ASNI standards and will be able to perform quality checks on ophthalmic eyewear that meets these standards.
You will ensure that work requests are submitted through DMLSS for all corrective maintenance.
You will remove surfacing/finish ophthalmic work tickets from a printer and will separate and fold the tickets.
You will assemble all types of metal and non-metal frames with a mechanical, electrical, and/or conventional optical screwdriver.
You will verify prescription accuracy after the surfacing process.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

Providing technical and on-the-job training to subordinates to monitor quality and quantity of work in the ophthalmic eyewear fabrication process;
Ensuring lenses and eyewear products are in compliance with current American National Standards Institute (ANSI) guidelines;
I have the ability to lead/supervise others who perform the full range of {trade} tasks including:
Inspecting lenses for surfacing defects, determining any rework as necessary to verify prescription accuracy;
Verifying lens stock against ophthalmic work tickets ensuring proper supplies are adequate;
I have the ability to lead/supervise others who perform common {trade} tasks including:
Assemble metal and non-metal frames with a mechanical, electrical, and/ or conventional optical tools (e.g. screwdriver);
Applies fining and polishing pads to ophthalmic surfacing laps and ensures proper surfacing operation process to its completion and storage;
