About the Position: This position is located with the US Army Installation Management Command, US Army Garrison, Directorate of Emergency Services, Physical Security Division, at Carlisle Barracks, PA.
Duties
Perform and resolve a full range of both standard procedural and non-recurring/unusual visitor access assignments.
Screen all employees, visitors, consultants, and contractor personnel daily, exercising patience, discretion, and diplomacy to determine status of an individual and reason for and location of visit.
Deny access to unauthorized personnel or those who do not meet authorized entry criteria.
Control, prepare, issue identification badges, cards, and passes that allow access personnel and visitors on to the installation.
Sets up and maintain visitor control roster and badges accountability log.
Provide authoritative guidance and information on security regulations and procedures, exercising sound judgment and discretion in response to telephone and in-person security inquiries.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Tier 3 / Secret
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and sustain state certification for operating the National Crime Information Center/ NCIC terminals.
- Shift work is required, or a change in work shift may be necessary. Hours of work encompass fluctuating tours of duty to include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
- Clerical duties require the services of a fully qualified typist to provide OA support services to the staff.
- Temporary Duty travel (TDY) may be required up to 5%.
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes work that involves greeting customers and visitors and determining nature of visit; using automated systems to query information; researching and following standard operating procedures; or providing customer service to both routine and difficult customer inquiries. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
