About the Position: Serves as Chief Patrol Branch and as Deputy Chief of Police for law enforcement services for Fort Hunter Liggett.

Duties

Planning of the branch activities. Studying regulations and preparing local policies. Planning, organizing, and directing long term investigations. Managing the overall operations of the Law Enforcement Activity Threat Management Services. Providing technical and administrative supervision.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Requires Secret Clearance (Tier 3).
  • The 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 covers this position. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position.
  • This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. IAW AR 600-85, a DA 5019R Condition of Employment must be signed for mandatory drug testing.
  • This position requires an initial and periodic medical examination to assess your ability to take the Physical Ability Test and to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Incumbent must meet the requirements of AR 190-56 (The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program). Prior to appointment you must agree in writing to adhere to these conditions of employment.
  • Incumbent must possess a valid state driver’s license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator’s license.
  • This position requires you to pass the record Physical Ability Test (PAT) within 30 days of being hired and annually thereafter.
  • This position requires the selectee to qualify annually for the Individual Reliability Program (IRP) as explained in IAW 190-56, Chapter 3.
  • This position is designated as Mission Essential (IAW DODI 3024.42 and DTM 17-004) during Inclement Weather Conditions or other designed/identified emergency conditions.
  • Hours of work is subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of up to 10% of the time.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position requires a one year supervisory probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties unless previously completed.
  • Incumbent must be successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy, unless incumbent has a current approved waiver from the Office of the Provost Marshal General.
  • Incumbent must be able to successfully pass training and qualification requirements related to LE as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes. In example, weapons qualifications and NIMS training requirements.
  • Incumbent is required to wear prescribed uniform and meet the standards of appearance per AR 190-56.
  • Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
  • This position requires certification in cardio pulmonary resuscitation and first aid.
  • This is an OBLIGATED position. An obligated position is one to which an employee has statutory restoration rights or entitlement based on active military service, recovery from a compensable injury, or return rights based on an overseas tour.
  • You will be asked to sign an agreement acknowledging that you are aware of the obligation and willing to be displaced under reduction in force procedures upon the return of the former incumbent.
