About the Position: This position is assigned to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Military Personnel Policy (DASD (MPP), Assistant Secretary of Defense for Manpower and Reserve Affairs, Office of the Under Secretary of Defense, Personnel and Readiness (USD (P&R)). This position addresses the financial readiness needs of service members and their families who seek support to balance their mission and financial responsibilities.

Duties

Draw on financial services training or experience to develop strategies for resolution of systemic and individual problems. Identify and investigate potential problem areas to develop solutions and/or new management and program objectives. Identify gaps, continuing obstacles, and issues associated with the effectiveness of personal financial education programs, particularly as they relate to the needs of the military. Provide personal financial readiness education or counseling for service members of families. Increase and integrate connections with non-profit philanthropic entities and financial institutions, Military OneSource, and other programs, both on and off military installations. Plan, direct, and coordinate programs and policies addressing the financial readiness needs of service members and their families who seek support to balance their mission and family responsibilities. Incorporate trend analysis of program requirements and review and analysis of pertinent financial readiness research into policy recommendations.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Interpersonal SkillsOrganizational AwarenessPlanning and EvaluatingPrinciples of FinanceStrategic Thinking Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13). A writing sample may be required by management within the interview process.
