About the Position: Serves as Ammunitions Handler responsible for receiving, classifying, storing, issuing, shipping and inspecting ammunition. Operates motor vehicles and directs the work of other vehicle drivers to transport cargo, supplies, personnel, and vehicles to and from training sites and other locations in support of the U.S. Army Maneuver Center of Excellence (MCoE).

Duties

Operate motor vehicles and directs the work of other vehicle drivers to transport cargo, supplies, personnel, and vehicles to and from training sites and other locations. Insure that needed plans, blueprints, material, and tools are available, and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations. Issue instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines and relies on the individual to assure that work assignments are carried out by other members of the group. Serve as Ammunitions Handler responsible for receiving, classifying, storing, issuing, shipping and inspecting ammunition. Assure that safety and housekeeping rules are followed to prevent injuries.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has been designated “Mission Essential”. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position requires the employee to possess a valid state driver’s license and be able to obtain a government license to operate military vehicles.
  • This position requires the employee to possess and maintain a Class "C" Commercial Driver's License (CDL), with Airbrakes and HAZMAT endorsement.
  • This position is covered under the Lautenberg Amendment, as such, the employee must be able to receive and maintain a favorable suitability evaluation.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regular scheduled basis.
  • This position is a Testing Drug Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing as a condition of employment.
  • This position is exposed to hazardous chemicals and fumes from spills and/or leaks and incumbent may be required to wear protective clothing.
  • Pre-appointment medical examination/physical is required.
  • This position requires the employee to obtain and maintain a Fork Lift Operator Certification.

I work under normal supervision of a work leader of journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc.Ability To Lead or SuperviseDexterity and SafetyKnowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.??????? Physical efforts - Work requires reaching, bending, turning, pulling, standing and walking. There is frequent lifting, pushing and pulling of items weighing up to 20 pounds and occasional lifting of weights up to 50 pounds. Working conditions - Incumbent works in motor pools, ammunition supply points/igloos, ranges and training areas, and enclosed cab of vehicle. There is exposure to all types of weather conditions and all types of traffic where there is a possibility of serious accident. The operator is subject to cuts, bruises and broken bones as a result of accident or when loading and unloading vehicles. Work assignments involve a thorough knowledge of hazardous material handling, and related activities. Incumbent is required to successfully complete a variety of hazardous material classes.
