About the Position: The Education Services Specialist (ESS) is the principal advisor to the commander on education matters, which impacts the battalion's mission. As the professional educational liaison, interacts with state educational associations and healthcare professional associations, colleges, universities, healthcare professional schools and residencies, state, regional, and national accrediting agencies and other components of the education community to enhance military recruitment.

Duties

Responsible for updating and maintaining school market data on the Force Structure, Address and Zip Code Realignment (FAZR) database. Interacts with state educational, healthcare professional associations, and all accrediting agencies and other components of the education community to enhance military recruitment. Serves as a liaison between the recruiting field force and the education community. Assists recruiters in solving problems pertaining to access, school and college relations, and student directory information. Serve as the Battalions program manager for a variety of educational programs to assure that recruitment goals are met.

Occupational information: Study of theories of occupational choice and vocational development and their application to the guidance process. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing advisory services on education matters within assigned organization; assisting in the development of educational programs and/or policies; analyzing educational data to determine applicant eligibility; presenting education materials and programs.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position such as Adult Education, Educational Leadership. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
