This position is part of the Defense Media Activity, Defense Media Activity. The incumbent will be responsible for serving as an Information System Security Manager (ISSM) within American Forces Network (AFN) of DMA and located at the AFN Broadcast Center (AFN-BC), reporting directly to the Chief, Technical Services Division and is responsible for AFN-BC unclassified and classified networks and systems' cybersecurity requirements.
Duties
This position is being filled under the memorandum from the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness (USD(P&R)) "Expansion of Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense," dated December 22, 2023.
As a Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC) at the GS-2210-12 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Manage unclassified and classified networks and systems cybersecurity requirements
Develop courses of actions and/or recommendations to the Information System Owner.
Advise management and provides guidance on complex IT security issues and advises others on how best to resolve issues and interpret guidance.
Conduct surveys, evaluations, and reviews to enforce or assess compliance with DMA and Department of Defense (DoD) CS standards and policies.
Develop policies, programs, and plans related to cyber security (CS) operations ensuring compliance with DoD policy and the Risk Management Framework.
Identifies and specifies information system security requirements and assists in carrying out in-depth analyses of system development plans to ensure security requirements and specifications are effectively implemented.

Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS - 12, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service as listed below:
Analyzing, planning, and developing Cyber Security for networks and systems related to cyber security operations.
Training and overseeing Cyber IT and work activities of action officers consisting of military, government-civilian, and contractor personnel.
Knowledge and skill in applying security principles and methods of securing systems to conform within DOD policy and the Risk Management Framework. Extensive experience with eMASS.
Working with ISSO's and system administrators on the planning, analysis, development and implementation and documentation of complex IT systems.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
