Duties
Responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating a broad array of complex resource programs requiring intensive multiple use management and protection of a variety of resources.
Coordinates land and resource planning and management with representatives of Federal, State, tribal, and local governments, the general public, public land users, and private landowners.
Responsible for reducing or halting deterioration and damage to land and resources caused by natural forces and land usage.
Serves as consultant, coach, and supporter to facilitate problem solving and accomplishment of Field Office goals and programs; monitors work to ensure
team members complete their tasks effectively and efficiently.
Creates strong mutual respect with and between teams and employees. In collaboration with employees, plans and schedules work by setting priorities, and develops schedules for completion of work.
Resolves conflicting resource demands between teams and obtains necessary resources for teams to produce quality products in a timely manner.
Assigns work based on priorities and capabilities of employees; reviews work for adequacy and accuracy, policy and regulatory compliance and application.
Determines work priorities for the Field Office and directs accomplishment of the approved Annual Work Plan. Operates Field Office programs within budgetary
limitations and apportionments.
Responsible for program planning under established Bureau guidelines, and submission of preliminary budget estimates to the District Manager.

- Supervisory Probationary Period: If you are selected for this position, you will be required to serve a one year supervisory/managerial probationary period if one has not previously been completed.

- May require a one-year probationary period.
Qualifications

For the GS-13 grade level: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) in the Federal service administering or managing multi-disciplinary natural resource programs and developing and maintaining effective relationships and communications both orally and written with a variety of groups, such as local, State and Federal agencies, tribal governments, advisory groups, congressional staff, interest and user groups, private organizations, and the media.
There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this grade level.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Physical Demands: Normally works in an office setting with occasional trips to the field. Occasionally required to walk moderately long distances over rough terrain during normal fieldwork.
Work Environment: Office work is accomplished in an adequately lighted and heated facility. When in the field, subject to injuries when walking in rough terrain and exposure to uncomfortable hot and cold temperatures. Incumbent will adhere to all safety rules and regulations as prescribed in manuals/supplements or by the designated Safety Officer.
