You will serve as a PLANNER & ESTIMATOR (SHEET METAL MECHANIC) in the MRO PRODUCTION DEPT of FLTREADCEN SOUTHEAST.

Duties

You will evaluate work requests to determine requirements and cost estimates for planner and estimator functions. You will examine damaged parts and determine the sequence of operations for repair or replacement. You will assign sheet metal work to be accomplished by junior employees, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work. You will calculate and scribe patterns for the fabrication of metal parts to be used in conjunction with aircraft and aircraft components. You will determine facility and sheet metal equipment availability for cost effective rework or aircraft or aeronautical equipment.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Qualifications

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO INSPECT: 1) Developing manufacturing work orders, indentured bills of material and preparing cost estimates to support manufacturing requirements. 2) Determining the logistics for local manufacture of parts and assemblies, tooling, test equipment, and fixtures for the internal repair or modification of assigned aircraft, components or kits. 3) Reviewing and interpreting design drawings for accuracy, capabilities, materials, processes and finishes. 4) Analyzing blueprints to ascertain the extent and type of manufacture work involved and its difficulty level. 5) Utilizing trade experience as journeyman-level sheet metal mechanic, possessing thorough knowledge of available machines and equipment and types of operation they perform involving proficient blueprint reading and interpretation.
