You will serve as a Sheet Metal Mechanic (Aircraft) Leader in the MRO Production Department of FLTREADCEN SOUTHEAST.

Duties

You will coordinate special projects, processes and troubleshoot new or complex work assignments in the Sheet Metal Mechanic trade. You will research new techniques and implement them in order to increase efficiency and productivity. You will instruct, train, and provide technical guidance to Journeyman Sheet Metal Mechanics in the performance of their assigned jobs. You will ensure shop fixtures, tooling and technical data are being properly maintained and stored after each use. You will train newly assigned shop personnel on the proper use of shop equipment and assist shop personnel on unusual assignments.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position requires corrected near vision at 13" to 16" to 20/20 and corrected far vision in one eye to 20/20 and 20/40 in the other.
  • Eye protection is required in hazardous areas in the form of glasses with side shields, goggles or face shield.

The Screen-out Element for this position is:I have the ability to perform common tasks under general supervision including: 1) Assembling and disassembling aircrafts and components in order to make repairs; 2) Interpreting blueprints, sketches diagrams and instructions to resolve problems within the Sheet Metal Mechanic trade; and 4) Operating various CNC machines to develop a variety of sheet metal parts.
