This position is that of Program Support Assistant (OA) - Time and Leave Clerk with the Office of the Associate Director Patient Care Services (ADPCS) at Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center in Charleston, SC, assigned under the Acute Care Services. ADPCS has diverse and specific function in the operation of the medical center. These functions cross clinical service lines.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: responsible for making make decisions related to time management, priorities of work to be accomplished, and methods of accomplishment; effectively communicating among various units and services as well as relaying accurate and timely information as needed as it relates to time and attendance; collaborating, communicating, setting priorities, and organizing the work in order to meet deadlines, ensuring compliance with established processes, policies, and regulations; and communicating tactfully and effectively, both orally and in writing, in order to meet program objectives. This may include preparing reports in various formats and presenting data to various organizational levels. Note: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hour worked per week. OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed four (4) years of education above the high school level in any field which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. One year of full-time undergraduate study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial or technical school. This education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. NOTE: Transcripts (unofficial or official) must be submitted with your application materials. Education cannot be credited without documentation. OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year). One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.
Proficiency Requirements: In addition to meeting the above experience and/or education requirements, applicants for this position must show possession of the following skills, as appropriate. Applicants may meet these requirements by passing the appropriate performance test, presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates by the Office of Personnel Management local office, or by self-certifying their proficiency.
