This position is located at Departmental Offices, Domestic Finance. As a Policy Advisor, you will conduct research, writing, and analysis related to legislative and policy proposals for a wide range of proposals impacting the financial system, that may include financial markets and financial institutions.

Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position. As a Policy Advisor, you will:
Monitor developments in the financial markets, institutions, stability and related legislative, regulatory and policy developments.
Conduct research on a wide range of issues related to Domestic Finance, including financial research, legal research, regulatory and policy developments.
Summarize findings and research in written products of various types, including tables, charts, short summaries, as well as longer memos, presentations, and reports.
Assist in preparing written materials, including briefing or issue papers, and memoranda for use by senior Treasury officials, including for the purpose of meetings, speeches, interviews, and testimony.
Assist in preparing responses to Congressional, press or other public inquiries.
Assist in maintaining contacts with other Federal or State agencies or outside parties in connection with the development and implementation of policy proposals.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
Assist in developing written analyses or memoranda for decision making regarding financial institutions (e.g., banks, broker-dealers, credit unions, nonbank lenders, investment advisors and companies, financial technology companies, financial exchanges), the financial services sector, and financial intermediation activities and their implications upon safety and soundness, resolvability, risk levels, industry competition, financial innovation, and/or financial performance; AND
Analyzing and presenting economic and financial information and data(e.g., financial statement analysis, prudential regulatory requirements, market and credit risk performance metrics) related to financial institutions, the financial services sector, and financial intermediation activities; AND
Assist in developing written analyses or memoranda for decision making regarding the application of current and proposed laws, regulations, and supervisory policy regarding financial institutions and financial intermediation activities (e.g., federal and state financial laws, rules and policies issued by the federal banking, market, or consumer regulators).
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
Assisting in developing written analyses or memoranda for decision making regarding financial institutions (e.g., banks, broker-dealers, credit unions, nonbank lenders, investment advisors and companies, financial technology companies, financial exchanges), the financial services sector, and financial intermediation activities and their implications upon safety and soundness, resolvability, risk levels, industry competition, financial innovation, and/or financial performance; AND
Analyzing and presenting economic and financial information and data (e.g., financial statement analysis, prudential regulatory requirements, market and credit risk performance metrics) related to financial institutions, the financial services sector, and financial intermediation activities.
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. TIME-IN-GRADE: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12 level for 52 weeks.

TIME AFTER COMPETITIVE APPOINTMENT: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
