About the Position: This position involves troubleshooting, diagnosing malfunctions, and repairing electrical/electronic control panels for generating equipment. It also includes maintenance and repair of refrigeration, air conditioning systems, and mobile diesel/gasoline-driven alternating and direct current electrical generating plants.
Duties
Perform shop and on-site maintenance and repair to refrigeration and air conditioning units installed in all types of equipment
Provide a variety of repairs to mobile diesel/gasoline driven alternating and direct current electrical generating plants
Provide full field-level troubleshooting, malfunction diagnosis, and repairs to generating equipment electrical/electronic-mechanical control panels
Perform maintenance on special type equipment consisting of pumps, fuel and water, boats, generators, arc welders, air compressors, hand tools, electrical and pneumatic, steam cleaners, etc.
Wiring of various types of vans for installation of special equipment, test stand generator and magneto, water purification units, and duplicating equipment.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Obtain and maintain a NACI T1 background investigation.
- Incumbent is required to have a valid motor vehicle driver's license.
- Successfully complete and pass a pre-employment physical.
- Obtain and maintain a forklift certification and license.
- Obtain and maintain agency specific license for vehicle operation.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Diagnosing, repair or adjusting and testing of powered equipment such as powered and motor generators containing electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and similar systems. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Efforts: Very frequently lifts, positions and carries items weighing from 20 to 50 pounds. Items weighing in excess of 50 pounds are normally lifted by more than one person or moved with mechanical devices. Work involves prolonged standing on concrete floors, stooping, climbing of utility ladders and working in cramped or awkward positions.
Working Conditions: Work is performed in a shop environment and frequently on-site out-of-doors subject to inclement weather conditions. Work environment includes exposure to intermittent noise, dust and dirt, grease and oils, and use of chemical solvents. Posted safety hazards include eye, foot and hearing hazardous areas. Safety equipment to include safety toed shoes, gloves, protective aprons, safety glasses, ear plugs and hearing protective devices are issued for hazard abatement, required for use during each actual exposure to hazardous working conditions.
