As the Orion Spacecraft Test Operations Lead with the Orion Productions Operations (OPO) Office, you will be responsible for the strategic and technical operations oversight/insight and leadership to the integrated Orion test team. You will also support programmatic communications between NASA and the Orion prime contractor including cross-program (Space Launch Systems (SLS) and Exploration Ground Systems (EGS) as required.

Duties

Leads and represents NASA on Orion integrated test team to assure work of assigned team is planned, coordinated and executed to completion and test requirements satisfaction. Provides technical operations test expertise and insight to test team for all planned test operations to include test anomalies recovery and unplanned test impacts. Applies tactical and strategic techniques and lessons learned to support future test campaigns. Keeps management informed of work progress, and progress in meeting milestones and deadlines, and encountered. Provides test planning and execution of flight hardware using experienced based, lessons-learned and state of the art techniques to perform integrated spacecraft verification and acceptance testing; problems Represents and speaks on behalf of team with clear communication and understanding of performance to plan, risks and other technical, schedule and budgetary impacts. Develops and manages “what if” assessment/trade study schedules to study, analyze and evaluate schedule projections and forecasts. Ensures program’s strategic and mission plans are communicated and integrated into team’s goals and objectives. Supports Program panels/boards related to program test decisions. Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Education Requirement (in the Education section below), to qualify for this position you must meet the requirements below. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. NASA utilizes OPM-approved qualification and rating requirements specific for Aerospace Technology (AST) positions which recognizes NASA's unique aerospace work. To qualify for GS-14, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level: Providing test planning and execution of flight hardware using experienced based, lessons-learned and state of the art techniques to perform integrated spacecraft verification and acceptance testing; Resolving technical issues and analyze complex spacecraft scenarios involving complex multi-systems spanning multiple engineering disciplines using an integrated systems approach; Participating on an integrated test team throughout a spacecraft test campaign to successfully accept and deliver a fully tested, proven and verified integrated spacecraft. Education

Basic Education Requirement: You must have successfully completed a bachelor's degree with a major in one of the following:
a) Engineering from a college or university that has ABET accredited engineering programs
b) Physical Science, Mathematics, Life Science or other field of Science
c) Computer Science that included 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours of course work in any combination of mathematics, statistics and computer science with at least half of those hours in mathematics and statistics courses that included differential and integral calculus; and that provided an in-depth knowledge of theoretical and practical applications of computer science, including digital computer system architecture and system software organization, the representation and transformation of information structures, and the theoretical models for such representations and transformations.

If you did not complete a qualifying bachelor's degree, you may be eligible if you have obtained a graduate degree in an AST qualifying field, as listed above.

Degrees in engineering technology are not considered qualifying for this position.
