This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in competitive service. About the Position: You will serve as a Maintenance Worker (MVO/FLO) assigned to Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobility & Security (DPTMS) at Dona Ana Range Camp, Dona Ana New Mexico.

Duties

Construct, install, repair or modify items. Build target and weapons stands for the range. Build wooden structures for obstacle courses. Repair existing buildings used by training units, range operations personnel or range operations support personnel. Drives truck with gross combined vehicle weight up to 9,600 pounds. Perform a variety of minor electrical repair and maintenance work to project buildings and facilities. Perform equipment operation in accordance with established methods and procedures. Perform manual labor and grounds maintenance duties.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires heavy lifting up to 50-70 lbs.
  • This position requires passing a pre-employment physical.
  • The incumbent may be required to work an uncommon tour of duty including evenings, holidays and weekends.

Qualifications

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Maintenance Worker (Motor Vehicle Operator/Forklift Operator) ~ without more than normal supervision. Perform common tasks in maintenance trades such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, cement work, appliance maintenance, welding, electrical and building maintenance. Perform a variety of tasks involved in the upkeep of buildings and related structures, fixtures and utilities. Operate a variety of tools and equipment associated with the trades above such as equipment with chains and boomers to safely prepare for hauling. Experience reading and understanding blueprints. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Works from ladders, scaffolds, and on platforms in cramped and hard to reach places. Stands, stoops, bends, kneels, climbs, and work in awkward, tiring and uncomfortable positions. Moderate to heavy physical effort is involved, frequently lifting, moving, and carrying items up to 50-70 pounds assisted while loading and unloading cargo, handling heavy equipment, parts, tools and materials, pushing wheelbarrows and running power mowers. Considerable arm movement in painting, carpentry and tractor equipment operating work. Works inside and outside exposed to all weather conditions. Exposed to dust, dirt, grease, oils, and noisy conditions. Inside work is usually performed on concrete floors. Area is frequently inadequately heated and cooled. Appropriate protective clothing and/or equipment is provided to minimize or eliminate hazardous conditions and its use is mandatory.
