Duties
You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST (SPECIAL SECURITY OFFICER) in the SECURITY DEPARTMENT, at NAVAL COMPUTER AND TELECOMMMUNICATIONS STATION SAN DIEGO (NAVCOMTELSTA).
You will provide advice, counsel, and/or instruct pertinent personnel on security and administrative regulations, policies, and concerns.
You will implement command security operations and enforce entry/exit procedures to provide positive identifications and circulation control within the command’s restricted and controlled areas.
You will establish and manage the command courier program and ensure couriers and those who transport classified information receive proper training, possess required documentation, and use approved methods to transport classified information.
You will establish procedures for safeguarding Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) classified information.
You will manage the SCI Personnel Security Program and establish procedures to identify current command members requiring updated security investigations.
You will implement the SCI security clearance program for all assigned personnel and ensure all required clearances are up-to-date and completed.
You will prepare all Electronic Questionnaires for Investigations Processing (e-QIP) submissions and review requests for suspensions and revocations of SECRET and TOP-SECRET clearances.
You will ensure the unit's Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) meets physical security standards.
You will ensure agreements and procedures are established to provide security oversight of classified contracts performed in support of the unit mission.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You must successfully complete a Counterintelligence (CI) polygraph with No Deception Indicated (NDI).
Qualifications
Applicants must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly relates to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by:
-Experience utilizing Physical Security Equipment programs such as intrusion detection systems, closed circuit television and automated electronic access control or similar programs.
-Experience implementing protective methods and security procedures by using a variety of security equipment and devices.
-Experience advising personnel on established security requirements up to the Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) level to resolve security questions, problems or situations.
-Experience conducting comprehensive periodic inspections to identify deficiencies and initiate corrective actions.
