You will serve as a SUPERVISORY SOCIAL SCIENCE PROGRAM MANAGER in the Navy Alcohol Abuse Prevention Section, Drug and Alcohol Deterrence Branch of NAVY CULTURE AND FORCE RESILIENCE OFFICE.
Duties
You will evaluate substance abuse programs and policies in military or private sectors to ensure programs reflect state-of-the-art in prevention efforts.
You will develop substance abuse prevention programs, policies and procedures to support effective program mission and operations.
You will verify research data for accuracy, consistency, relevance, and organization of statistical analysis.
You will write briefings to senior management officials on results of special studies or research projects with recommendations for further action.
You will inform command leadership of potential impacts on fleet readiness and propose corrective action, solutions, and best practices.
Requirements

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Must possess the mental and physical ability to work at a continuously quick pace for long periods and under stress.
- Work is normally performed during a first shift schedule, however some evening/weekend hours may be required.
- Travel is required for 40% of the time.
Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Assessing and implementing prevention programs and initiatives to change behaviors; 2) Researching and evaluating existing substance abuse programs and policies in federal and private sectors according to established policies and programs; 3) Conducting briefings to recommend substance abuse program improvements, research and recommend evidence based resources needed to support policies and procedures; and 4) Developing solutions and responses for information and statistics from senior officials in support of the drug program.

Education
Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:
Applicants must possess a behavioral or social science degree, or a degree in a related discipline appropriate to the position being filled
OR
Have a combination of education and experience that provided knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
OR
Have four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
