NEH is an independent grant-making agency of the government dedicated to supporting research, education, preservation, and public programs in the humanities.

Duties

Develop, organize, and conduct in-person outreach to communities and institutions that have been historically underserved, thereby increasing the reach and impact of NEH's programs. Promote the work and programs of the NEH with external constituencies through video presentations, social media, and other appropriate means. Oversee the development of outreach information, tools, and resources for internal audiences on the Outreach Hub. Working with the Office of Communications and the Office of Grant Management, oversee development of outreach tools and resources for external audiences for the NEH website. Promote NEH's peer review system, expanding and diversifying the pool of peer reviewers for NEH programs. Identify best practices and lessons learned directly linked to outreach activities and contribute to evaluation and assessment efforts.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. At the GS-12 level Qualified candidates must possess: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level or equivalent experience. Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, for example: Experience working in a humanities organization, such as in higher education; programming or research position in a library, archive, or university press; teaching classes in the humanities; or an organization with an explicitly outward facing mission. In all cases work should have been performed with wide latitude for the exercise of independent judgment, requiring somewhat extended professional training and experience. At the GS-13 level Qualified candidates must possess: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level or equivalent experience. Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, for example: Experience working in a humanities organization, such as in higher education; programming or research position in library, archive, or university press; teaching classes in the humanities; or a grant-making organization with an outward facing mission. Specialized experience also includes performing work with wide latitude for the exercise of independent judgement, plus deep and ongoing engagement with the challenges facing historically underserved institutions and communities in the humanities, plus additional experience working in a grant-making office or institution.
