This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Superintendent - Pine Ridge Agency in Pine Ridge, South Dakota. This is a Bargaining Unit position, for more information see What are bargaining units? NOTE: TRAVEL AND RELOCATION EXPENSES WILL NOT BE AUTHORIZED. ANY RELOCATION EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH REPORTING FOR DUTY WILL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE SELECTED EMPLOYEE.

Duties

Performs a wide variety of laboring jobs requiring a degree of manual skill and prior training or work experience, and very heavy physical effort. Uses heavy power mowers (and other power tools), adjusts blades, cleans, and oils mowers; cuts trees using saws, axes and chain saws. Digs ditches and trenches with pick and shovel or power equipment where dirt is hard and compact, grades and slopes ground, occasionally, for short periods. Uses a jackhammer to break up pavement, mixes and pours concrete, asphalt and hot mix, fills and levels holes in damaged roads. Operates a snow blower, shovel, ice pick to complete snow removal.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Job Qualifications System for Trades and Labor Occupations (X-118C, Qualification Standard Handbook) will be used in determining applicants' qualifications. There is no specific length of training or experience required; however, you must be able to demonstrate through the experience shown in your written resume and your responses to the Occupational Questionnaire that you possess the competencies to perform the duties of this position without more than normal supervision.
