This position is in the Office of Financial Management, Planning, and Evaluation, Division of Planning, Budget, and Evaluation. The Division is responsible for managing and coordinating the agency's budget requests from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and the President, managing budget execution processes, interfacing with OMB and Congress on appropriations issues, overseeing performance management requirements, and contributing to financial management reporting requirements.
Duties
This position serves as the agency Budget Officer in the Division of Planning, Budget, and Evaluation (FMPB) and reports to the Deputy Chief Financial Officer in the Office of Financial Management, Planning, and Evaluation (EXFM). As the Budget Officer, responsibilities include the direction and supervision of multi-functional areas through the budget team and planning team, providing leadership that ensures sound financial stewardship and effective execution of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) appropriations.

Qualifications
All applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.
Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience in applying budgeting principles, laws, practices, techniques, and regulations when executing managerial budget activities and accomplishing functions in all of the following: 1) preparing budget estimates, tracking obligations and performing comparisons to the operating budget, and preparing budget justifications aligned to agency goals and strategies for Congress and the Office of Management and Budget (OMB); 2) preparing and reviewing monthly status of funds reports; 3) advising senior officials on a budget program; and 4) developing presentations to brief senior executives on updates, advice, and recommendations on all budgetary related matters.
