This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for This is a Career Program (18) position to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Assist with developing and fielding geospatial data and reports utilizing the application of principles and techniques from remote sensing, imagery analysis, and geographic information systems (GIS)

Duties

Assist team lead in conducting geospatial analysis of vector and raster data; systems, using geographic information systems Apply geoprocessing methods and techniques to extract meaningful information from historic maps and aerial photographs. Utilize photogrammetry to create accurate digital representations (models) of real-world environments Researching historical maps, aerial photographs, and other relevant documents to meet research project goals in terms of historical land use patterns regarding environmental cleanup and remediation Writing clear and concise technical reports to communicate findings and document recommendations; and creating well designed cartographic products to engage and inform the audience.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Applicants can be selected at the GS-09, GS-11, or GS-12 level. The target grade of this position is GS-12; management may fill position at the grade applicable to the selectee's education and experience. Basic Requirement click on link to review education Geographer (0150) Geographer (0150) Physical Scientist (1301) Physical Scientist (1301) Geologist (1350) Geologist (1350) Mathematician (1520) Mathematician (1520) In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Qualification Requirement-Specialized Experience: GS-9- I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes experience in geospatial analysis, including data collection, processing, and visualization; skilled in photogrammetry, GIS, and remote sensing; analyze historical records, create maps, and write technical reports. OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. GS-11-I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes performing advanced geospatial analysis and project management; analyze complex spatial data, conduct environmental data collection, processing, and visualization; skilled in photogrammetry, analyzing historical records and develop innovative data visualizations; has strong skills in GIS, remote sensing, and data analysis. OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. GS-12-I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes leading geospatial projects; can oversee data collection, manage teams, and implement advanced analysis geospatial techniques; skilled in photogrammetry, analyzing historical records, GIS, remote sensing, data analytics, and project management.
