About the Position: The Public Works Directorate at JBLM is a leader in providing exceptional infrastructure, engineering resources, housing and facility management support & sustainable development. DPW supports the military commanders and joint base community, advancing environmental stewardship, community relations and quality of life.
Duties
Perform warehouse duties such as receive, store, and inventory tools, parts, equipment, and supplies.
Utilize a variety of reference materials in order to determine the best source for ordering requested items.
Maintain accountability on all stocked items by conducting inventory and reviewing records for record purposes and audits.
Telephonically contact local vendors from a list and select a vendor based on ordering items at maximum value for the lowest cost possible.
Identify and select items requested by shop personnel (based on the users description of intended use) for the repair of equipment or facilities.
Issue facilities maintenance and repair tools, parts, equipment and supplies for the utilization in repairs of facilities or equipment.
Operate vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of less than 10,000 lbs. to pick up items from vendors and to deliver parts, tools and equipment to job sites.
Operate forklift, capable of lifting loads up to 10,000 lbs. in order to move items.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a Forklift Operator License/Certification with a capacity of up to 10,000 lbs. within 12 months after hire.
- This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work on hard surfaces and in work areas that require constant standing, stooping, bending and climbing on ladders. Frequently lifts and carries tools and parts, supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally heavier.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work in well-lighted and heated office, tool room, and shop area. Is exposed to the possibility of motor vehicle accidents. Exposed to possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, and broken bones when handling heavy tools and parts. Outside work may require occasional exposure to inclement weather.
Education
