The Department of Energy (DOE), Office of Inspector General is currently looking for a Supervisory Criminal Investigator (ASAC) in the Office of Investgiations. Join our professional team of auditors, criminal investigators, and inspectors who help support DOE's mission through performance and financial audits, inspections of management issues and administrative allegations, and investigations into alleged violations of law.
Duties
As a Supervisory Criminal Investigator (ASAC) for the Office of Investigations, you will be responsible for the following:
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.

- Suitable for Federal employment, as determined by a background investigation.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- May be required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450 or an Executive Branch Personnel Confidential Financial Disclosure Report upon entering the position and annually (5CFR Part 2634, Subpart I USOGE, 6/08).
- Must obtain and maintain a Q security clearance.
- A successful completion of a pre-employment physical required.
- Will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
- The position requires a valid motor vehicle operator's license at the time of appointment and must maintain the license while employed in the position.
- Completion of the Criminal Investigator Training Program (CITP) at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) or documentation of successful completion of a formal basic special agent/criminal investigator training course of instruction.
- Incumbent may be subject to relocation to another geographic location based on the needs of the organization and mission requirements. A signed Mobility Agreement is required.
- Incumbent must meet requirements for training and qualification with firearms.
Qualifications
You must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date (11/29/2024) of this announcement.
Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 for each federal position listed as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of qualifying experience that you will be granted. An award SF-50 will not be acceptable documentation for which to consider your amount of qualifying experience. For all other applicants who are not current federal employees, your resume must state either "full-time" (or "40 hours a week") or "part-time" with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. Failure to adequately provide information needed to determine number of hours worked in each position may result in that time not being credited when evaluating qualifying experience.
For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected
To qualify for this position at the GS-14 grade level, you must possess one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement.
BASIC REQUIREMENT: In accordance with OPM's Individual Occupational Requirements for the GS-1811 series, applicants must meet the following basic requirement: Medical Requirements - The duties of positions in this series require moderate to arduous physical exertion involving walking and standing, use of firearms, and exposure to inclement weather. Manual dexterity with comparatively free motion of finger, wrist, elbow, shoulder, hip, and knee joints is required. Arms, hands, legs, and feet must be sufficiently intact and functioning in order that applicants may perform the duties satisfactorily. Sufficiently good vision in each eye, with or without correction, is required to perform the duties satisfactorily. Near vision, corrective lenses permitted, must be sufficient to read printed material the size of typewritten characters. Hearing loss, as measured by an audiometer, must not exceed 35 decibels at 1000, 2000, and 3000 Hz levels. Since the duties of these positions are exacting and responsible, and involve activities under trying conditions, applicants must possess emotional and mental stability. Any physical condition that would cause the applicant to be a hazard to himself/herself, or others is disqualifying.

EXPERIENCE: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-13) in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:I have at least one year of specialized Criminal Investigator experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal service collecting and securing evidence for criminal, civil, or administrative investigations for violations of fraud and abuse. Specific work experience must demonstrate the following:
1) Lead an investigative team relative to criminal investigations of critical and sensitive importance by reviewing and evaluating allegations, information, and evidence to recommend appropriate investigative activity.
2) Document, brief, and convey investigative information to external and internal customers.
3) Lead, plan, and/or coordinate investigative activities (i.e., search or arrest warrants) to gather evidence for an investigation.
4) Conduct analysis of grand jury material and joint operations with other Federal law enforcement agencies to establish facts or evidence.

Time-in-Grade: Any individual who is currently holding, or has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet time-in-grade requirements (must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent in the Federal service). Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal civilian employees applying for reinstatement.
