About the Position: Serves as the Casualty Assistance Center (CAC) Program Trainer. Responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating the training on Casualty, Mortuary Affairs, Post Cemetery, Mass Casualty, Military Burial Honors, Line of Duty (LOD), Soldier and Family Pre-Deployment Training, Summary Courts Martial Officer, and Initial Training to Casualty Assistance Center Staff and other related programs in an Area of Responsibility (AOR).

Duties

Serves as the primary Trainer for Casualty programs to include Casualty Notification, Casualty Assistance, Pre-Deployment and Family Assistance programs and other Casualty and command related programs. Interprets supervisor’s objectives, short and long term and independently establish plans training programs and methods to accomplish the objectives. Determine detailed subjects and references to be included in Programs of Instruction following the scope of instruction and guidance received on background material and objectives. Provide assistance to other Casualty employees: Casualty Operations Manager, Benefits Coordinator, Memorial Affairs Coordinator, and Training Instructor. Provides professional interactions to facilitate collaboration between multiple organizations or agencies. Possess basic administrative knowledge of Army Regulations, DoD Instructions, computer skills and programs.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time
  • The duties of this position may require the incumbent to carry a cell phone and be on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week on a rotational basis, based on the needs of the organization.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position such as Education. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Casualty and Mortuary AffairsLearning and Program EvaluationOral CommunicationWritten Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-7).
