Duties

You will splice copper conductor telephone and data cables. You will install, splice, test, and repair metallic fiber optic cables using manual, electronic and computerized test equipment. You will perform, installations, maintenance, and repair on various distribution frames. You will adjust, maintain, diagnose, calibrate, tests and performs minor repair of fiber optic and carrier transmission systems. You will keep work and equipment storage areas clean, neat and organized.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

  • You will be required to lift objects up to 30 pounds without assistance.
  • You will be required to have good eyesight accurate color vision and normal hearing.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: The ability to splice cables such as telephone and data cables, test and repair cables, install distribution frames, and keep a clean and tidy storage area.
