About the Position: This position is with the Joint Munitions Command at Letterkenny Munitions Center. Serves as a General Supply Specialist responsible for ammunition inventory. Applies extensive knowledge of the various supply, inventory, and accountability functions, systems management functions, and utilizing supply related knowledge
Duties
Prepare and schedules annual physical inventory.
Perform causative research to resolve discrepancies within the inventory accountable records and physical inventory by using Stockpile Inventory List Comparator.
Manage the inventory Quality Control Program to ensure compliance with governing regulations and policies of Class V ammunition.
Perform analytical assignment involving specific issues associated with class V management.
Work directly with DOD representatives and contracted auditors to complete all audit requirements
Work as Doc Captain during vessel out-loads to ensure accuracy of Out of Continental US OCONUS) ammunitions shipments which entails great attention to detail.
Create detailed packets that are required by auditors to prove financial readiness.
Monitors daily progress, plans, and assigns work for subordinates.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Required to meet ammunition certification requirements IAW AMC-R-350-4 within one year of employment.
- This position is subject to the Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 which makes it a felony for anyone who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence to ship, transport, possess, or receive firearms or ammunition.
- May be required to work overtime.
- This position has critical safety or security responsibilities and as such has been designated as a testing designated position (TDP).
- Must undergo physical examination and receive favorable results prior to appointment and annually thereafter.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

To qualify for this position, your resume must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) Providing technical guidance related to ammunition supply and supply systems; 2) creating reports, data and analysis to resolve supply problems in accordance with applicable supply regulations, policies and procedures; and 3) utilizing automated supply systems to develop, reconstruct and/or maintain inventory transactions.
OR
Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Logistics, Supply Management, or another related field.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
