About the Position: This position is located with the Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security Training Division, Fort Riley, KS.
Duties
Plan daily weekly and monthly work schedules and sequences of operations for subordinates.
Establish deadlines and priorities on the basis of methods, and policies established by higher levels of supervision.
Explain work requirements, instructing subordinates in new procedures and providing advice when problems arise.
Investigate work related problems, such as low productivity, identify causes and implement corrective action within limits of authority.
Develop and counsel employees on performance standards, implementing formal and informal performance appraisals.
Determine supplies needed for planned projects and for repairs and/or upgrades to existing structures and grounds improvements.
Train employees on safe work practices and the use of protective clothing and equipment.
Ensure current information is provided to all employees regarding hazardous materials in the work environment.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid Government Driver's License to operate vehicles.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter.
- This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor without more than normal supervision. Perform common duties involving supervising subordinates through daily direction and guidance involving technical work in an industrial environment; applying knowledge of maintenance operations and procedures; and planning the allocation of resources and the distribution of work to subordinates. I work under normal supervision and am subject to periodic inspection.- Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Administrative functions are primarily performed in an office setting adjacent to the project maintenance facilities. Work requires some continual walking, standing, climbing ladders and scaffolds, and stooping and bending. Equipment operation work requires arm and leg movements to operate controls. Moderate to heavy physical effort is involved, frequently lifting, moving, and carrying items up to 50 pounds while loading and unloading cargo, handling heavy equipment, parts, tools and materials.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside and outside, exposed to all weather conditions. Exposed to loud noise levels, vibration and jolting while operating engineering equipment motor vehicles, and tools and equipment of the various trades led/performed. May be exposed to poisonous insects, reptiles and plants. Subject to injury from falls, overturning of tractor and equipment, vehicular accidents, loading and unloading cargo, or from hand and power tools used. Subject to electrical shock, cuts, bruises, insect bites and stings, scrapes, burns, infections, and broken bones. May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty to support heavy training surge.
