Duties

Joining the Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations will allow you to use your expertise in administration to provide advisory and technical services to management. Apply for this exciting opportunity to strengthen the Department's ability to protect the homeland by analyzing and refining budget services and processes. This position starts at a salary of $128,717.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $167,336.00 (GS-13, Step 10) In this budget position you will become a key member of a team of Homeland Security professionals providing key budget support for the administrative team. Typical work assignments include: Developing, integrating, and executing the operating budget for the Field Office. Overseeing expenditures to ensure allocations and future monetary commitments are monitored and paid accordingly and analyzing historical data, current spending, future estimates and trends. Conducting budget analyses and providing guidance to field managers, submitting budget recommendations and reviewing of unfunded requests, and collaborating with managers to develop final consolidated budget estimates and forecasts for future budget needs and preparing justification for reprogramming of funds. Managing multiple appropriations and working directly with Program Managers to secure funding for mission requirements. Developing and recommending improvements in budget services. Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Planning and carrying out a variety of mission support, budgetary, administrative research, and program planning activities related to the missions and functions of the Field Office. Performing significant review and analysis of budget, management, training, logistics, procurement, and all other areas of mission support resources in support of the Field Office. Providing technical expertise and guidance, and performs a variety of comprehensive services relative to budgeting and financial management. Preparing briefings and reports to management to foster understanding and acceptance of findings and recommendations for future budget, procurement and travel operational needs. Managing the Travel Card Program by serving as Certifier or Reviewer to approve travel authorizations and vouchers. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 11/27/2024.
