About the Position: Serve as assistant to the Womack Army Medical Center (WAMC) Emergency Manager, assisting with the assessment, development, implementation, and evaluation of the organization's emergency management programs and policies in accordance with Joint Commission accreditation standards and policies. Providing assistance in making necessary coordination in the area of emergency management for military and civil authorities; occasional travel to other agencies.
Duties
Assist the Emergency Manager with the assessment, development, implementation, and evaluation of the organization's emergency management programs.
Assist in coordinating monthly Emergency Management Functional Management Team / Emergency Operations Committee meetings.
Assist the Emergency Manager to educate the staff on the emergency management programs.
Assist in planning and conducting emergency preparedness education, training, exercises, and drills.
Oversee and monitor Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) staff assignments and training.
Prepare after action reports, briefings, evaluations, corrective action lists, and performance improvement plans.
Review directives, policies, and procedures that pertain to emergency management and contingency operations.
Ensure area complies with all The Joint Commission (TJC), and Emergency Management (EM) requirements and or guidance.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position is "emergency essential", in the event of a crisis situation, the incumbent, or designated alternate, must continue to perform mission duties until relieved by proper authority.
- Position is designated Non-Critical Sensitive (2) requiring the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience in assisting the Emergency Manager with assessing and executing hospital emergency operation plans; and scheduling and conducting emergency preparedness education, training, exercises, and drills. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
