Duties

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for planning, developing and implementing policies and procedures governing classification and position management, recruitment, selection, merit promotion and Delegated Examining authority and special programs in the Human Resources Section of the Administrative Division in the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia. Typical work assignments will include: Reviews and develops position descriptions, preparing official cover sheet, conducts desk audits, writes reports of findings, as well as prepares and write evaluation statements. Prepares responses to external program review findings. Participates in planning and implementing reorganization requests from organizational entities throughout the agency. Conducts office-wide position maintenance review (PMR). Monitors and maintains the Master Record Number database and the Staffing Plan for non-attorney positions by working with the IT Staff and the HR Staff to ensure the internal HR database Personnel Tracking System and other related HR databases are current and accurate. Attends meeting with the HR team, supervisors and hiring managers to develop classification and staffing strategies. Ensures that all documentation is present in classification files. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
  • You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
  • If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
  • Time-in-Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
  • You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement and before placement in the position.

Qualifications

To qualify as a GS-12, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS- 11 level in the Federal Service. Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is defined as experience using fundamental human resources management methods and practices governing functional areas, predominately in the area of position classification, position management, and recruitment and placement. Examples of specialized experience are: analyzing and applying classification standards and guidelines in position classification and position management; reviewing and developing position descriptions and desk audits; planning, coordinating and implementing re-organization requests; writing report of findings, evaluation statements and responses to review finding; communicating with and making recommendations to management and hiring managers in the agency position classification and structure; performing position analysis to determine position requirement and area of consideration; and creating, vacancies and determining applicant qualifications. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
