This Program Specialist position is located within the Deputy Secretary (DEPSECVA), Office of Resolution Management, Diversity, and Inclusion (ORMDI). The position is responsible for a wide range of functions that further the integrity, effectiveness, and impartiality of the Department's equal employment opportunity (EEO) complaint system.
Duties
Evaluate current policies' adequacy to assess the ability to achieve overall goals.
Promote emerging concepts regarding the delivery of reasonable accommodation services.
Provide authoritative guidance addressing policy risks associated with the reasonable accommodation program.
Provide technical policy guidance to program managers and staff.
Provide oversight of the reasonable accommodation system of record.
Advise agency staff on the implementation of policy.
Conduct periodic assessments to ensure quality and compliance.
Maintain documentation of compliance activities such as EEO complaints.
File appropriate compliance reports with regulatory agencies.
Facilitate extensive training programs for executives, management officials, supervisory officials, and employees on reasonable accommodation policy.
Exercise management-level supervisory tasks.
Revise ongoing plans that identify program goals.
Contribute to agency comprehensive strategic plan.

Specialized Experience:
GS-12: Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-11) in the federal, state, local, public, or private sector. Specialized experience is work experience that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: 1) Applying guidance, case law, and EEOC policies/ procedures to make recommendations; 2) assisting in management of an enterprise-wide database; 3) coordinates and maintains tracking of reassignment procedures, protocols, and requests through an electronic system of the division; AND 4) presenting briefings and/ or training sessions for internal and external customers.
*There is no educational substitution for specialized experience at the GS-12 level.
