About the Position: This position serves as the Aviation Division Chief delegate's authority for execution of functions and missions assigned to Airfield Operations. This position is located with the Airfield Division, Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization, and Security at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM).
Duties
Ensure compliance with applicable Aviation Airfield regulatory guidance.
Advise installation leadership on aviation matters in general.
Address program issues affecting the installation airfield division.
Oversee the operational safety of the airfield ensuring activities are in compliance.
Assist in managing airfield budgeting processes based on spending plans.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
- A pre-employment and subsequent random drug testing is required.
- Temporary duty travel of 5% may be required.
- This is designated as a Key Position.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other emergency type situations incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- The incumbent of this position must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State and government driving license.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience includes: 1) ensuring compliance with aviation regulations, 2) advising senior leadership on aviation matters in general, 3) executing airfield disaster plans, and 4) overseeing aviation safety programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
