Duties
Confirms eligibility for treatment and third-party insurance information.
Prepare patient records according to prescribed formats.
Record a variety of Physician's orders
Receive and distribute mail to medical staff and patients.
Take inventory, place orders and keep records of supplies.
Accurately complete required end-of-day processing and/or patient census reports.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.

Basic Requirement for Medical Support Assistant:
General Experience: One year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates my ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position such as receive and relay incoming and outgoing communication, receive, welcome and direct patients and visitors, answer routing questions, schedule, cancel and reschedule appointments for patients within a medical treatment facility.
OR
Education: Two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
